PLAY THERAPY
Play therapy is a structured form of therapy that attempts to create a space to explore life events that may have an effect on current circumstances, and help process feelings and experiences, resolve internal conflicts, learn emotional regulation, emotional and social skills, and adaptive behaviors. The pacing and manner of play therapy is at the individual’s choosing.
While play therapy is typically seen to treat issues by children, play therapy can also be used with teenagers and adults. As people approach adulthood, many have lost their ability to playfully explore themselves. Studies have supported playful exploration to help enhance both physical and cognitive behaviors. Play therapy can provide a comfortable and safe environment that may prompt a teenager or adult to approach more serious issues.
